Joseph S. Tabellione, 82, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Naples, Florida.
Born on September 23, 1942, in New Britain, Connecticut, Joe grew up surrounded by the strong family values that would shape his life. He attended New Britain High School, after which he proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving with distinction in the 410th Bombardment Squadron of the Strategic Air Command at Sawyer Air Force Base in Gwinnett, Michigan.
Following his military service, Joe worked at Stanley Works world headquarters in New Britain for more than four decades before retiring in 2008. Joe built a happy and fulfilling life. He created warm family homes in Unionville, CT; Edgartown, MA; and ultimately Naples, FL. Throughout his life, Joe had a passion for sports—especially baseball—and tried his hand at many athletic pursuits. Joe found great joy traveling with his loving wife and special friends. He was an avid card player who particularly enjoyed playing poker twice a week with friends in his Naples community.
Joe was known for his wonderful smile and storytelling abilities. He enjoyed recounting antics from his service days and wonders from their travels. Beneath his assertive exterior was a tender heart and a keen ear for listening to others. His opinions were always shared with conviction but tempered by genuine care for those around him.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Alice; his step-son Alexander (Jennifer) and grandchildren Travis and Hope. He also leaves behind his brother Tom (Rita), sister Mariann (John Mooney); brother-in-law Charlie Cella (Catherine) as well as cherished nephews and nieces. Joe was predeceased by his son Keith Tabellione.
Joe’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and kind-hearted spirit. He was quite the personality. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives.
A private service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Martha’s Vineyard at a later date.

What a loss for all of us. Just thinking of Joe makes me smile and I think that was often his goal-make us all smile. I suspect he’s still telling stories. I hope he and my Don have found each other. They were two of a kind-the very best kind.

Alice, so sorry to hear about Joe. I will always remember his spirit and his love for his family. Remembering some of the good times in Farmington will be treasured — especially his notable adventure with Bigfoot back then. He brought laughter to us all. God bless.
